Washington, DC - This weekend, House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) will travel to Arizona and California in support of Democratic candidates.
On Friday evening, Hoyer will join Rep. Pete Aguilar (CA-31) for a campaign event in California. Rep. Aguilar was first elected to Congress in 2014 and was previously Mayor of Redlands. He serves as Whip of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus in the 115th Congress and is running for re-election in 2018.
On Sunday, Hoyer travels to Arizona, where he will attend an event in support of candidate Greg Stanton (AZ-09). Mayor of Phoenix since 2012, Stanton is running for the open seat being vacated by Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, who is running for the U.S. Senate.
Hoyer will remain in Arizona to join candidate Ann Kirkpatrick (AZ-02) for a campaign event on Monday morning. Previously a public prosecutor and state legislator, former Rep. Kirkpatrick served in the House from 2009-2011 and again from 2013-2017. This year, she is running for the open seat being vacated by Rep. Martha McSally, who is running for U.S. Senate. Kirkpatrick is part of the DCCC's "Red to Blue" program.
So far this cycle, Hoyer has made twenty campaign trips to support Democratic candidates and incumbents, raising or contributing $2.3 million toward retaking the House majority in November.
